This is a short handbook that covers the process of goal setting from a practical standpoint. There is no information here that is not essential and the process of setting and achieving goals has been pared down to its core. At a breezy 32 pages it can be read easily in less than an hour, but I've found subsequent readings to be increasingly helpful.
The content is a blend of motivating techniques and specific steps to take in order to set and achieve goals. Where this book differs from others like it is the starting point. Approximately the first third or so of the book is devoted to creating the proper mindset and environment necessary in order to take advantage of goal setting. This part of the book was the highlight for me since it was not something I had considered before and immediately changed how I thought about my own goals.
In my opinion the best use for this book is as a companion to your goal setting journey. Rather than an instructional manual, the book acts more like an interactive guide whose advice changes as you change the questions you ask. On my second reading I "played along at home" by analyzing several of my own goals in the style discussed in the book as I read. I discovered several of my goals were too broad to be meaningful and a few of my plans of action were missing intermediate steps needed to be truly effective. The strength of the book comes from its ability to uncover gaps and weaknesses in your plan.
If you have trouble setting goals or have set goals before, but never achieved them there is information here that can help you. You should expect to read this book several times. Not because its difficult to digest, but because what you get out of it will change as your goal setting process becomes more sophisticated.
Bottom line If you are looking for a quick read that can help you focus your efforts on improving happiness and quality of life this book will help you. I would recommend this book to a friend.

From there the reader is presented with simple and effective ways to achieve these goals. What I liked most about reading this book was by the end of it I felt I had the tools to make life changes and the confidence to start now. If you're someone who knows they need to make a change or just someone who has big dreams read this book and you'll know what actions to take to succeed.
